Resolving a Complaint

Every home should be equipped with a fire extinguish and working smoke detectors. However, should a fire break out, would you know how to use your fire extinguisher?

When using a fire extinguisher, keep the nozzle aimed at the base of the fire while sweeping back and forth. Make sure to keep your back to the nearest exit. If you can’t get the fire out, get yourself out. Keep in mind that smoke kills, so don’t fight a large fire and don’t spend a lot of time fighting any fire. Get out and call your local fire department. The house can always be fixed or rebuilt.

Being alerted to a fire is still your best defense. Make sure your home is equipped with smoke detectors on every level. Remember, any smoke detector needs to be kept clean, have a good battery and be checked frequently for it to work properly.
