The insurance industry has become more complex with its own language of terms, legal issues and subtle details. You need a knowledgeable expert at every stage of the process to interpret these rules and what they mean for you. Your Agent or Broker's personal advice and support can be invaluable as your insurance needs and requirements evolve through different life stages and events.

Insurance and loss prevention go hand in hand. We are owned by our policyholders and our primary goal is to help our policyholders.
Loss prevention is an important part of that help.

Water Damage

Water Damage

In our climate, we are subject to water problems throughout the year. In the winter, melting snow on the roof can get into your home. In the summer, large rainfalls can result in sewer backup and sump pump malfunctions.

ROOF - control the accumulation of snow on your roof and ensure that the eaves troughs are clear of ice buildup. If they are not, melting snow will get under the shingles and damage the interior of your home.

BASEMENT - ensure that your sump pump is in a proper location and functioning. Have a battery operated sump pump as a backup.

To reduce your risk, consider doing some or all of the following:

Have a backwater valve installed below the floor in your basement to help prevent wastewater from the municipal sewer system from backing up into your home.

If the downspout is connected to the municipal sewer system, disconnect it and extend it so that water is directed to a permeable surface away from your home’s foundation.

Check the lot grading around your home. A gentle slope away from the foundation will help divert water away from your home.

Repair dry and cracked caulking around bathtubs and replace cracked washing machine and dishwasher hoses.

“ We just had an insured stop in to express how pleased he was with an auto claim and handling of medical bills. Kind of nice to get a visit like that!!!!! It doesn't happen much in the insurance world! ”
